City Bus Routes

Having spent much time researching this subject, I feel it only fair to point out that although the are extensive bus services that are clean and inexpensive, the lack of english script on the bus route boards do make travel difficult for 1st time users, although for expat users or you guys with a job here regular bus travel is easy. Before I wrote this article I made a trip from Samut Prakan to Ekkamai Eastern Bus terminal, using a combination of BTS and bus travel. The usual taxi fee for this distance is around 140 baht, my total trip costs were 33 baht !

A trip from Samut Prakan to either the Southern Bus Terminal or Khao Sarn Road is just 23 baht.

There are more than one type of City bus service in respect of luxury, Air Conditioned, or the open windows buses that are intolerable in the hotter months. Personally, although a few extra baht can be saved I really recommend Air con buses as the only way worth travelling, as comfort is important to me !

FROM  Southern Bus Terminal:

Bus services from Southern Bus Terminal Parts of Bangkok.

511  If heading to Khao Sarn rd, Petchaburi rd, Central World, Sukhumvit rd, Samut Prakan, Bang Na (24 hour normal route) Every 5 mins.

507  If heading to Sanam Luang, Chinatown, Hualamphong SRT station, Rama 4 Silom, Lumpini Park or Klong Toei.  (4.10am to 10pm Normal route) Every 10 mins.

170  Mochit 2 bus terminal. ( Northern Bus Terminal  (5am to 10pm). Every 10 to 15 mins.

515  Victory Monument. (4.30am to 11pm). Every 10 to 15 mins.

79  Nearest BTS station (4.30am to 11pm) to Ratchathewi BTS station Every 10 mins. or 511 ( Petchuburi Road )

566 Suvarnabhumi Airport: Take route 556 (Expressway 24 hour) Every 20 to 30 mins.

515 Don Mueang Airport: Take Bus 515 (4.30am to 11pm) Every 10 mins to Victory Monument then 538 (Expressway 4.30am to 9pm every 10 mins) or  29 Normal route (3.45am to 10.30pm) Every 2 to 5 mins.

Eastern Bus Terminal (Buses for Pattaya, Chonburi, Rayong)

Bus services to and from the Eastern Terminal on Sukhumvit road at Ekkamai

BTS - Eastern Bus terminal. Take BTS to Ekkamai Station ( see Guide Here ) and walk about 100 metres to the bus terminal. To the Eastern bus terminal from :-

511 or 2  from or to Khao San road.

522   from or to Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Mochit 2 Bus Terminal (Northern Bus Terminal)

The following are different bus services from Mochit 2 to different major tourist areas of Bangkok.

49  Hualamphong SRT station (4.15am to 10.15pm) every 10 to 15 mins.

3    Khao San Rd (24 hours) every 10 to 15 mins.

145 Mochit BTS station (24 hours) every 5 to 10 mins.

77  Sukhumvit Rd (2am to 11pm every 5 to 10 mins) to Central World then take 511 Normal route (24 hours every 2 to 5 mins) to Sukhumvit road. A faster option is via BTS from Mochit BTS station see above.

77  Rama 4 or Silom (2am to 11pm) every 5 to 10 mins or 145 (24 hours) every 5 to 10 mins to Mochit BTS then BTS to Silom area.

77 Victory Monument: Take Route (2am to 11pm) every 5 to 10 mins.
